MOVIES AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE NEWSLETTER
Hello, Movie Lovers!
Welcome to this week's Movies at Grandmas House newsletter! We're back with the twenty-eighth edition of "Grandma's Archives" where we continue exploring films from our podcast—and this week, we're journeying to the stars with one of Pixar's most ambitious and visually stunning creations.
This week, we're floating through space with the 2008 Pixar masterpiece, WALL-E. In a distant future, Earth has been abandoned and covered in trash, left to a single waste-collecting robot named WALL-E who has been dutifully cleaning up for 700 years. Lonely but curious, WALL-E has developed personality and dreams of connection. When the sleek probe EVE arrives searching for signs of life, WALL-E falls in love and follows her on a journey to space that will determine the fate of humanity itself—a adventure about connection, hope, and what makes us human, even when we're robots.
We gave this one a stellar 4 out of 5 stars! WALL-E is one of Pixar's boldest experiments—a science fiction romance with minimal dialogue that trusts its audience completely. The animation is breathtaking, with a hauntingly beautiful desolate Earth and stunning space sequences. The crown jewel is that "dancing" scene with WALL-E and EVE floating through space using a fire extinguisher—arguably the best animated sequence Pixar has ever created, conveying more emotion through wordless storytelling than most films manage with pages of dialogue. Isaac has fond memories of watching this at Grandma's house and loves that perfect Peter Gabriel end credits song. It's funny, touching, and surprisingly thought-provoking about humanity's future. Pixar at their most artistic.

Isaac's Rating
Take it Home!
“I might have some bias of memories but I love this movie. Beautiful animation and the sense of loneliness is captured so well, while still being a lot of fun. It’s not a perfect movie but I will defend it being one of Pixar’s best crafted and original."
Seth's Rating
Watch it at Grandma’s
“This most recent viewing didn't hit me the same way the other Pixar films have so far, although there are several redeeming qualities so I can't quite take this one home. I'll happily wait a little while before I revisit but I will enjoy it because it's a good movie.”
