MOVIES AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE NEWSLETTER

Hello, Movie Lovers!

Welcome to this week's Movies at Grandmas House newsletter! We're back with the twenty-second edition of "Grandma's Archives" where we continue celebrating films from our podcast—and this week, we're returning to Andy's room for a sequel that proves lightning can strike twice.

This week, we're riding to the rescue with the 1999 Pixar masterpiece, Toy Story 2. When Woody gets stolen by a toy collector and discovers he's a valuable collectible from a classic TV show called "Woody's Roundup," he faces an impossible choice: be loved by Andy who will eventually outgrow him, or live forever in a museum where he'll be admired but never played with. As Buzz Lightyear and the gang mount a daring rescue mission, Woody must decide what it truly means to be a toy—and confront the reality that nothing lasts forever.

We gave this one a perfect 5 out of 5 stars! Toy Story 2 does the impossible—it matches, and in some ways surpasses, a perfect original. This is Seth's favorite animated movie of all time, and it stands right alongside the first film as a genuine masterpiece. The expansion of the toy world is masterful, with Jessie, Bullseye, and Stinky Pete adding new dimensions to the story. Jessie's backstory set to "When She Loved Me" is one of the most emotionally devastating sequences Pixar has ever created. The animation is a massive leap forward, the action sequences are spectacular, and the screenplay balances multiple storylines flawlessly while exploring themes about mortality and meaning. Pixar proved sequels don't have to be cash grabs—they can be art. To infinity and beyond, indeed.

Plus, we've found some amazing deals on movie posters from MoviePoster.com, Amazon, and more—check them out!

Isaac's Rating

Take It Home!

“This is the second film we’ve covered that I would say is a MASTERPIECE (the first being the first Toy Story :D). They literally did the impossible and made a sequel better than you could even imagine. It’s no surprise some consider this to be best in the series. "

Seth's Rating

“It is a well rounded story told so purely. Great voice overs all around as well. This is my favorite animated picture.”
