MOVIES AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE NEWSLETTER
Hello, Movie Lovers!
Welcome to this week's Movies at Grandmas House newsletter! We're back with the twentieth edition of "Grandma's Archives" where we continue celebrating films from our podcast—and this week, we're revisiting the movie that changed animation forever.
This week, we're heading to infinity and beyond with the 1995 Pixar masterpiece, Toy Story. When Andy receives a new Buzz Lightyear action figure his favorite toy—Woody the cowboy doll—feels threatened and worried about being replaced.
What starts as jealous rivalry spirals into an adventure that sends both toys on a journey through the neighborhood, forcing them to work together to make it back home before Andy's family moves away. Along the way, they'll discover what it truly means to be a toy—and a friend.
We gave this one a perfect 5 out of 5 stars! Some movies are just perfect, and Toy Story is one of them. Pixar's groundbreaking debut is a masterclass in storytelling, character development, and emotional resonance.
The casting is flawless—Tom Hanks brings warmth and vulnerability to Woody while Tim Allen's Buzz is the perfect mix of heroic delusion and genuine heart.
The screenplay is tight, funny, and emotionally intelligent, working on multiple levels with themes of obsolescence, identity, and finding your place in a changing world.
The laughs are genuine, the stakes feel real, and nearly 30 years later it still thrills. Plus, the nostalgia of seeing this revolutionary CGI for the first time in 1995 adds another layer to an already incredible film. This isn't just a great animated movie—it's a great movie, period. Nearly perfect in every way.
Plus, we've found some amazing deals on movie posters from MoviePoster.com, Amazon, and more—check them out!

Isaac's Rating
Take It Home!
“Out of all the movies we have covered, this is the first I will call a MASTERPIECE. Every scene is perfect, be it the story telling, dialog, and more. The animation may be dated in some cases by today’s standards, but it still holds up well. The screenplay alone is one I would argue being one of the best ever written."
