We gave this one a stellar 4 out of 5 stars! Sonic 2 does what great sequels should do—it improves on the original. The introduction of Tails and Knuckles is handled perfectly and brings so much fun to the story. Idris Elba is absolutely perfect as Knuckles, delivering deadpan warrior philosophy that's comedy gold while remaining intimidating and endearing. The character chemistry between Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles captures the dynamic fans have loved for decades. Jim Carrey continues to shine as Robotnik, the action is more ambitious, and the film leans harder into its video game roots with that Chaos Emerald finale being pure Sonic. Not perfect—the human subplot drags a bit—but a clear improvement that shows this franchise knows how to level up.
