MOVIES AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE NEWSLETTER

Hello, Movie Lovers!

Welcome to this week's Movies at Grandmas House newsletter! We're back with the thirty-seventh edition of "Grandma's Archives" where we continue celebrating films from our podcast—and this week, we're welcoming a marmalade-loving bear into our hearts with one of the most delightful films of the past decade.

This week, we're having tea and marmalade sandwiches with the 2014 family masterpiece, Paddington. When a young Peruvian bear arrives at Paddington Station in London searching for a home, he's taken in by the Brown family. As Paddington tries to adapt to life in the city while searching for the explorer who once visited his family in the jungle, he brings chaos, laughter, and unexpected warmth into the Browns' lives. But when the sinister taxidermist Millicent Clyde sets her sights on adding Paddington to her collection, the family must band together to protect their beloved new member.

We gave this one a perfect 5 out of 5 stars! Paddington is pure joy captured on film—one of our absolute favorites. The animation of Paddington himself is absolutely stunning, especially impressive given the film's budget, and Ben Whishaw's voice work is perfection. The human cast, including Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins, commit fully with genuine emotion, and Nicole Kidman has a blast as the villain. But what makes this special is its soul—a film about kindness, acceptance, and looking for the good in people. It's funny without being mean, exciting without being scary, and heartfelt without being manipulative. Every frame is crafted with love. Enjoyable through and through, characters, plot, and animation—everything works perfectly. A modern classic that deserves all the praise!
