MOVIES AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE NEWSLETTER
Hello, Movie Lovers!
Welcome to this week's Movies at Grandmas House newsletter! We're back with the thirty-sixth edition of "Grandma's Archives" where we continue exploring films from our podcast—and this week, we're flipping the superhero script with an underrated DreamWorks masterpiece.
This week, we're embracing our inner villain with the 2010 animated comedy, Megamind. Megamind has spent his entire life as a super-villain, constantly losing to his heroic arch-nemesis Metro Man. But when Megamind actually succeeds in defeating Metro Man, he discovers that being bad isn't much fun without a hero to fight. So he creates a new hero named Titan to be his opponent—but things go horribly wrong when Titan decides to become an even worse villain himself. Now Megamind must make the ultimate choice: continue being evil, or become the hero the city desperately needs.
We gave this one an outstanding 4.5 out of 5 stars! Megamind is criminally underrated and one of DreamWorks' absolute best movies. The voice cast is phenomenal—Will Ferrell brings both comedic timing and surprising vulnerability to Megamind, while Tina Fey, Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, and David Cross all deliver excellent performances. The animation is gorgeous, the comedy lands consistently, and what really elevates this is how smart it is—brilliantly deconstructing superhero tropes while telling a genuinely compelling story about identity, redemption, and choosing who you want to be. Seth ranks this as one of his favorite movies period, and it's easy to see why. This is a masterclass in subverting expectations while delivering pure entertainment. An absolute gem that deserves way more recognition!

Isaac's Rating
Take It Home!
“I wonder how this movie seems to get missed and is truly underrated in the Dreamworks list of films. Everything about this film is top notch. The voice cast alone is terrific but there’s more substance between the story and lessons throughout. You’ll have a blast with this one."
Seth's Rating
