Hello, Movie Lovers!
Welcome to this week's Movies at Grandmas House newsletter!
Season 4 continues! In our latest podcast episode, we asked: Does Ice Age (2002) warm our hearts with prehistoric charm, or does it leave us cold in the glacial period?
This animated adventure takes us 20,000 years into the past, where grumpy mammoth Manny, fast-talking sloth Sid, and cunning saber-toothed tiger Diego form the most unlikely herd in history when they discover an orphaned human baby and embark on a perilous journey to return him to his tribe—all while navigating treacherous ice landscapes, Diego's hidden agenda, and the relentless pursuit of Scrat, a acorn-obsessed prehistoric squirrel.
We dive into Blue Sky Studios' breakout hit that launched a massive franchise, the film's blend of slapstick comedy and surprisingly emotional storytelling, and whether this tale of misfit companionship delivers both laugh-out-loud moments and genuine heart as three loners discover that family isn't about species or blood, but about who you choose to stand beside—proving that even in the coldest times, friendship can thaw the most frozen hearts.
Plus, we've found some amazing deals on movie posters from MoviePoster.com, Amazon, and more—check them out!

Ice Age (2002)
Set 20,000 years ago as the ice age approaches, a grumpy woolly mammoth named Manny prefers traveling alone while all other animals are migrating south to warmer climates. His solitude is disrupted when he reluctantly saves Sid, an awkward and talkative sloth who has been abandoned by his own family and immediately latches onto Manny as his new companion. The mismatched duo stumbles upon a human baby whose mother, fleeing from a saber-toothed tiger attack, desperately entrusts the infant to them before disappearing into a raging river. Despite Manny's protests, they decide to return the baby to his tribe, and are soon joined by Diego, a smooth-talking saber-toothed tiger who offers to track the humans—though he's secretly leading them into a trap set by his pack leader who wants revenge on the humans. As the unlikely trio journeys across treacherous frozen landscapes filled with dangers from lava flows to precipitous ice caves, they must survive not only the harsh environment but also Diego's conflicting loyalties, while the relentless and hilarious Scrat the prehistoric squirrel-rat pursues his beloved acorn in parallel adventures that inadvertently affect their journey.

Watch it at Grandma’s
“As much as I wanted to take this one home, upon multiple viewings, I really felt strongly this is a solid watch at grandma's, hoping to revisit.
P.S. if they took out some of the violent scenes, I'd for sure have taken this home.”
