MOVIES AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE NEWSLETTER
Hello, Movie Lovers!
Welcome to this week's Movies at Grandmas House newsletter! We're back with the twenty-fourth edition of "Grandma's Archives" where we continue exploring films from our podcast catalog—and this week, we're diving into the deep blue sea for one of Pixar's most beloved adventures.
This week, we're swimming across the ocean with the 2003 Pixar masterpiece, Finding Nemo. When Marlin's young son Nemo is captured by divers and taken to a dentist's office aquarium in Sydney, the overprotective clownfish must venture beyond the safety of the reef and journey across the entire ocean to find him. Along the way, Marlin teams up with Dory, a friendly but forgetful blue tang fish, encountering sharks, jellyfish, sea turtles, and countless other obstacles in a desperate race to save his son before it's too late.
We gave this one an outstanding 4.5 out of 5 stars! This is Pixar at the height of their powers, and it's one of Isaac's favorite Pixar movies. The animation is breathtaking—every underwater environment feels alive and meticulously detailed. Albert Brooks brings nervous energy and genuine pathos to Marlin, while Ellen DeGeneres steals every scene as the unforgettable Dory. The character designs are iconic (Bruce the shark, Crush the sea turtle, the Tank Gang), and the classic Pixar humor keeps you laughing even during intense moments. The father-son relationship at its core gives the film genuine emotional weight, exploring themes of parenthood, fear, and letting go without ever feeling manipulative. It's funny, thrilling, beautiful, and moving—Pixar fun in every frame. Just keep swimming, indeed.

Isaac's Rating
Take It Home!
“I love this movie. I can boldly say it is in the top 3 for Pixar movies we have considered so far in my book. It had a lot of hype at the time, but it’s a rare movie that meets or exceeds those expectations for me. The characters, story, humor and just fun journey you’ll experience with this one is just pure fun every time."
